Noida, September 2, 2026: Jewar, in Uttar Pradesh, is likely to become one of the leading hubs for digital infrastructure and AI with the construction of a proposed 384 MW data centre backed by an investment of ₹26,910 crore. This facility is being constructed by AM Group in YEIDA’s Sector 28 and aims to improve the presence of the state of Uttar Pradesh in the data centre and AI ecosystem of India.
The initial phase of the facility would be constructed on about 114 acres of land and is scheduled to be commissioned by 2028. This facility is one of many initiatives to create a 1 GW high-performance computing and AI infrastructure hub by 2030. The planned infrastructure would enable extensive computational capabilities for cloud computing, AI model training, enterprise data processing, and similar operations.
This investment in data centre facilities is taking place at a time when there is a rise in demand for capacity in the data centres of the country due to the growth of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital platforms, and increasing data consumption. The operating data centre capacity in India is around 1.7 GW in 2025, along with ongoing capacity construction.
Another crucial aspect of the Jewar project is that it will be based on green energy. In addition to being a one-gigawatt facility, this development will use around-the-clock carbon-neutral energy generated by means of renewable sources such as wind, solar, and pumped-storage facilities. This factor becomes especially relevant since the data centres, which are needed for AI technologies, require significant electricity.
The chosen location also grants several advantages to the project. Jewar has become one of the major infrastructural and financial destinations due to the expansion of the Yamuna Expressway region and the opening of the Noida International Airport. Thus, better connections and proximity to the wider National Capital Region can become an attraction factor for technology companies and residential real estate investment.
The chosen project is consistent with the overall strategy for the development of Uttar Pradesh, which is focused on creating AI-ready and green data centre infrastructure. For instance, according to the state's Data Center Policy 2026, over ₹2 lakh crore in investments are expected, along with the addition of 2 GW of data centre capacity, mainly GPU-based.
Thus, this project has the possibility to have ramifications beyond the data centers industry by contributing towards employment creation, technology services, power generation, and allied industries. In light of the increasing investments in the region, this project has the potential to further consolidate the growing Jewar-Greater Noida technology and industrial corridor.
Given the high computing capacity, use of renewable energy, and location advantages, the proposed 384 MW project could emerge as a key element in Uttar Pradesh’s plans to establish itself as a major destination for AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure.
