Noida International Airport Takes Off, but Jewar Connectivity Still a Work in Progress

Noida, September 4, 2026: The commencement of services at the Noida International Airport at Jewar can be considered a turning point for both Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region (NCR). As per the latest Jewar airport news, while flights from the airport have commenced, road and public transport connections are under development. The airport's success will depend on how quickly the surrounding transport system develops alongside the airport infrastructure.

The Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, has begun operations and provides a new aviation facility for Noida, Greater Noida, and surrounding regions. However, for travelers from Delhi and some other locations in the NCR area, getting to the airport is still easier by car or taxi than using the public transportation system.

The problem of connectivity becomes especially important due to the fact that Jewar is situated outside the urban areas of Delhi and Noida. The Yamuna Expressway is the main road route to the airport for now, but travelers from other areas of Delhi and the NCR require additional roads to get there.

Public Transport Network Yet to Mature

Efforts have begun by the administration to solve the problem of last-mile connectivity. About 100 city buses have been put into operation to link Noida and Greater Noida to the airport. However, travelers have encountered problems because certain buses halt at a distance of one kilometer from the terminal, with a shuttle needed to reach the airport. The lack of a proper timetable and frequency of the buses has added to their inconvenience. 

The Government of Delhi is also proposing the provision of bus services between key interstate transportation junctions like Anand Vihar, Kashmere Gate, and Jewar Airport. The service is supposed to be launched after the necessary arrangements have been made by the transport authorities of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

To improve regional connectivity, YEIDA has given permission for an interstate bus terminal in Sector 23C close to the airport. The authority is planning to add city buses in the region, from 100 to 500 in number.

There are many upcoming infrastructural projects that will increase connectivity at the airport in the coming years.

An elevated corridor in the Yamuna Pushta is planned, which will be an alternate route from the Okhla Barrage region to Greater Noida, ensuring that traffic going to the airport avoids congestion on the Noida Expressway. There is also a development on the Yamuna Pushta road.

There is another upcoming road, the proposed 74 km access-controlled expressway between the Yamuna Expressway at Film City and the Ganga Expressway via Bulandshahr. It will be a six-lane corridor between Jewar and Eastern/Central Uttar Pradesh.

Long-term plans for connectivity also involve a planned Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat and Metro connection. The initial plan estimates that the 72.5-km rail corridor will run from Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport, Jewar, and will take about 50 minutes. The planned connectivity network will involve both Namo Bharat and Metro rail lines and will help to achieve connectivity between the airport and the populous area of the NCR region.

For the time being, though, the transport network of the airport is still under construction. With the growing number of passengers, the provision of convenient bus routes, last-mile connectivity, and fast rail links will become all the more relevant.

Thus, Noida International Airport has made its first big move as an aviation hub, but its full-fledged integration into the NCR region will become possible only when the related transport network is established in Jewar.
